April 1999: Annie's Team forms to raise money and awareness

We had such a great time participating in SafePlace's 1998 Walk for Safe Families that we couldn't just leave it there. So Annie's Team was born for the 1999 Walk for Safe Families and Safe Streets, raising money and awareness to fight domestic violence. A couple of dozen strong, we brought high spirits and strong resolve to the Walk. Co-workers, friends, and family all contributed their time and effort to this affirmation of Annie's legacy.

All of us wore our team T-shirts, handcrafted by Chris on her computer and ironing board in assembly-line fashion.

Collections by Annie's Team that first year brought us the second-place trophy for community teams. Not a group who rest on our laurels, we vowed to renew our efforts in 2000 and set our sights on even bigger and better results.
