These two were constant companions for many years. Shep (1986-1998) was acquired from an apartment dweller whose accommodations were inadequate for this rambunctious dog. Cactus Hill was the perfect place for Shep.

Ed says this is probably the only time we ever got both these dogs to "Sit!" at once. Spot and Shep spent most of their time doing pretty much whatever they wanted. Fortunately, what they wanted most was just to live at Cactus Hill and take care of all the doggy-ing. For over a decade they did it well. Now they have both made their trips to doggy heaven, where they're probably rolling on their backs in the long grass and moaning in ecstasy—in short, still doing all the doggy-ing!
