Fauzy

This handsome and rather serious young man is the latest addition to our family. In February 2008 Ed "adopted" Fauzy through the Christian Children's Fund. Since then the two have corresponded several times, with a friend of Fauzy's family helping to write Fauzy's letters in English and translate Ed's letters to Fauzy and his family.

Fauzy was born December 20, 1998, in Mazimasa village, Butaleja District, in eastern Uganda. He has two sisters and two brothers. They live with both parents, who are peasant farmers. Their annual average income is less than US $100, not nearly enough to provide for education, clothing, and food for the family. The family are of the Banyole tribe, and they are Muslim by faith. They live in a grass thatched house made of mud and wattle. Fauzy is in school. His favorite subject is mathematics, and he enjoys playing rope games. He does well in school and is in good health.
