October 2001 brought a lot of action to Cactus Hill: Max, another rescued orphan. This little guy was spotted just before he crawled into a truck engine compartment on the SafePlace grounds. Fortunately, he was retrieved by a SafePlace worker who crawled under the truck and finally retrieved the tiny kitten.

We were already thinking of taking another kitten so that Xena would grow up with someone her own age. So of course this little fellow captured our hearts.

His full name is Trucker Max, with Ed contributing the first part and Chris insisting on the second.
