| The
Prairie
Our property stretches to the middle of this
easement, filled with flowers. A few years ago, we had a scare as a summer
brush fire swept up the easement and burned all the grasses and weeds, scorching some
trees as
well. The ground here was cinders. |
 |
| Lo and behold, the
following spring all the flowers were back, and better than ever—hearty,
more profuse, and in greater variety than before. That year perfectly
demonstrated how the prairie works, and the part that fire plays in the
process. |
