February 17, 1999 We set out early to drive the Hana Highway, a narrow,
barely-two-lane road winding along the coast of east Maui, known for its breathtaking
vistas.
Hana is that red dot at the far right point of the
map. The highway runs along the shore in a big circle, sometimes at sea level, sometimes
on a cliff 3,000 feet above.
