Day 1: Austin to Amarillo
Imagine us driving across the tabletop-flat land of the Texas panhandle. Chris looks off to the northeast at the straight horizon and says "It's hard to imagine there's any real topography over that way." Ed retorts "But it's not topography...it's bottom-ography."
And indeed it is. Across a bridge and around a curve, and suddenly there's a rather large ditch running alongside the road. As we enter the Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the "ditch" widens and drops away into this spectacular canyon—the "Grand Canyon of Texas."
